The Peirano Family Foundation hosted its annual scholarship awards ceremony at the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club. Three students were honored with a $2,000 Dr. Kristine Bennett Honorary Scholarship, one student was honored with the $1,000 Affronti Community Service Scholarship and one USF student was honored with a $1,000 Sherri VanDeBoe Future in Education Scholarship. The room was packed with family, friends and school personnel who came out to celebrate the accomplishments of these terrific local students. We'd like to thank the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club for providing their facilities for this great event.

The Peirano Family Foundation was excited to once again participate in the Great Port Clean Up sponsored by Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful and  Port Tampa Bay. Over 1,000 volunteers worked together to pick up trash and debris along the shoreline in and around the port. Our board members worked alongside Palmetto Beach Line Handlers to gather and dispose of a truck load of trash along Causeway Blvd.

Continuing our mission to support the St. Vincent dePaul Faith & Grace Garden, the Peirano Family Foundation donated $2,500 to purchase a greenhouse and other much-needed nursery supplies. On April 27, we were delighted to assist with construction of the garden's new greenhouse which will enable the gardeners to provide a wider variety of fresh foods to the food pantry clients.

The Peirano Family Foundation recently presented a check for $1,000 to Tampa Bay Maritime Scholarship Foundation president Captain Jere White. The mission of the Tampa Bay Maritime Scholarship Foundation is to assist high achieving graduates of the Thomas Jefferson High School Magnet Honors Maritime Academy and other public institutions by providing meaningful scholarship support for post high school education leading to maritime careers.

The Peirano Family Foundation recently donated $1,000 to purchase much needed supplies, including socks, belts, laundry detergent and school supplies to AMI Kids Tampa. Students were excited to receive these essential items. Since 1971, AMI Kids Tampa has been dedicated to helping kids discover the potential within them, transform their lives and strengthen the Tampa Bay community. AMI Kids Tampa empowers their kids through care and guidance to reach that potential and, as a result, break the cycle of failure and poverty. The Peirano Family Foundation with the help of A#1 Seamless Gutter Solutions installed a gutter and rain barrel system that will help get rain water to the edible plants throughout the Faith & Grace Garden.

Members of the Board of Directors visited the Faith and Grace Garden to help with harvesting fresh produce and preparing items for distribution to food bank clients.  We also toured the property and gathered information to assist with up-coming plans for installation of a gutter and rain barrel system to ease the burden of watering all of the property's plants and trees.
